Justitia & Pace

“Justitia & Peace” commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Institute of International Law (IIL) / Institut de Droit International (IDI).

The cinematic work presents the rich history of this prestigious institution, it covers key moments such as its foundation in 1873, the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1904, and analyses its functioning and future projects.

The film offers a comprehensive look into international law, supported by a valuable historical archive and unique interviews with prominent community members who have played a key role both in times of peace and crisis. These individuals, committed to the cause, remain dedicated to strengthening the normative framework in the context of our increasingly complex global society.

The Mandorla Films team together with the Institute of International Law made an intensive search for archival material to present in a unique way in this documentary. Accompanied by animations and illustrations, we will go through the history of the Institute and end with a detailed explanation of its inner workings.
